Restaurant Marketing

Restaurant Marketing: A Georgia State University study on students dining at various restaurants in the university's trading area who received an imprinted promotional product, like a brochure, after their visit to a restaurant, were more likely to have a positive impression about that restaurant and recommend that restaurant to others, versus those students who had received nothing from the restaurant.

The report went on to say: "Promotional product recipients viewed the restaurant slightly better in terms of image, uniqueness, perception and patronage than non-recipients of a promotional product and had a significantly higher likelihood of recommending that restaurant.

Although the study did not intend to measure the return on investment, the restaurant reported over a 10 percent increase in sales following the test."

SHOULD YOU THEN RUN OUT & GET A PROMOTIONAL PRODUCT?

Possibly so! I've always recommended giving something to guests — something that they can take home and act as another reminder of the restaurant.

This helps cement the name of the restaurant in the guest's mind. Otherwise, they'll forget about you.

THREE SIMPLE & INEXPENSIVE PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS

1. Refrigerator Magnets

2. A One-Fold Flyer — tells the "story" of the restaurant or can be a take-out menu

3. A Pen with your restaurant's name on it.

GIVING IS GOOD & IT HELPS REMEMBERING

The research is there. If you want to increase referrals and positive word of mouth, give your guests something as they exit your restaurant.

It's just another of the many steps you need to do to get them to remember you and prevent them from going to your competitor.

As Famous Dave once said, "You've got to scream to be heard" …. AND TO BE REMEMBERED.
